Questions
What people ask before a first visit
Do you take my insurance?
We file claims for you with dental plans, and what a plan pays is the plan's decision. The fees page lists the plan types, and Wes can tell you what to ask your plan.
What if I don't have insurance?
You pay at the visit, and you get a written estimate in advance. Ask us when you schedule.
Do you accept Medi-Cal?
No. We are not enrolled with Medi-Cal Dental.
Will it hurt?
A cleaning rarely does. For a filling, Dr. DeJesus uses a gel and then a local anesthetic, and you can ask for a break any time. We don't promise no discomfort.
How often do I need X-rays and a cleaning?
Dr. DeJesus decides from your exam and your history. She tells you why before any X-ray.
What is a deep cleaning?
A longer cleaning under the gums, usually over two visits, for gums that have pulled away from the teeth.
Do you see children?
Yes, children who are comfortable in the chair. If a child needs a dentist who focuses on children's care, she says so and refers you.
What counts as a dental emergency?
Trouble breathing or swallowing, swelling that spreads to your face, eye or neck, or bleeding that won't stop: go to an emergency room or call 911. For a broken or knocked-out tooth, call us right away.
Do you offer sedation?
No. We offer local anesthetic to numb a tooth. If you'd like more than that, she'll refer you to a dentist who offers it.
Can I get a written estimate first?
Yes, before any treatment. If you're paying without insurance, we give you one in advance, when you schedule or whenever you ask.
What is my filling made of?
We place composite, a tooth-colored resin, and Dr. DeJesus names it before she starts. The materials guide covers the rest.
How do I cancel or change a visit?
Call or text us as early as you can, and we'll find another time.
